The water logged soil in the New England area is again in the path of a major storm stystem. Earlier today portions of Rhode Island received upwards of three inches or rainfall causing isolated flash flooding issues. The system is hitting an area that has suffered from bad weather from tropical storm Arthur and creating additional problems for vehicles and property owners.
The potential for severe weather will extend into Massachusetts until approximately 8pm eastern time. As the storm system pushes through, the temperatures are going to start dropping as an unusual cold weather pattern has emerged over a large portion of the United States. While many are referring to this as a polar vortex, the experts are pointing out that this is simply an atmospheric shift and things should return back to normal fairly quick. While the weather shift may have millions thinking fall, the Summer still has several weeks of potentially warm weather in the forecast.
For residents throughout New England the cold and wet weather are a good reminder that the Patriots start their training camp July 24.
